The Coupler Cabinet: Core Component in Tunnel Communication Systems

In the tunnel communication system, the coupler cabinet, also known as POI, is an indispensable core device. It serves as a signal hub for the distribution, coupling and management of radio frequency signals in enclosed tunnel spaces. By integrating key RF components such as couplers,duplexercombiners, attenuators and filters, it effectively addresses issues like signal attenuation, multi-system interference and the scattered maintenance of equipment.

1.Signal Distribution

It distributes base station signals (GSM, 3G, 4G, 5G, etc.) to multiple tunnel antennas via feeders and collects feedback signals from antennas to transmit back to the base station, enabling two-way efficient signal scheduling for full tunnel coverage.

2.Signal Combination

It prevents signal interference between different frequency bands or operators to ensure the clear and stable transmission of multi-system signals in the tunnel.

3.Interference Isolation

It adjusts the signal power to protect the system components from damage caused by excessive signal power, and further suppresses signal interference with high isolation performance.

4.Centralized Maintenance

It concentrates all feeder line connections and related devices in the cabinet, facilitating the unified management of the tunnel communication system and reducing the difficulty of daily operation and maintenance.

As a key node between the base station and tunnel antennas, the coupler cabinet forms a standardized transmission link: base station signals are transmitted to the cabinet via optical or coaxial cables, then distributed to each tunnel antenna through internal components for segmented coverage. Multiple coupler cabinets are connected in series along the tunnel, achieving seamless and blind-spot-free signal coverage for the entire tunnel section.
